Hot Plate Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus
Hot plate thermal shrinkage device with temperature range up to 200 °C, ideal for R&D and rapid screening across variable temperatures
The HPFS (Hot Plate Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus) determines the percentage thermal shrinkage of polymer films using the hot plate method, an alternative and complementary technique to the immersion method.
The 128×128 mm AISI 304 stainless steel heating plate is controlled by a 1/16 DIN PID controller with PT100 temperature sensor (±0.1 °C accuracy) over a range up to 200 °C, and includes an over-temperature safety thermostat.
A thin layer of silicone oil on the surface ensures uniform heat transfer between the plate and the sample; the supplied 100×100 mm cutting template also acts as a press to keep the film flat during testing.
As the instrument is not bound to any specific international standard, it is particularly suitable for R&D laboratories needing to map shrinkage behaviour over a wide temperature range or to test materials not compatible with the immersion technique.
Optional accessories include manual or pneumatic die cutter and 100×100 mm die.
