Unrestricted Linear Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus

Thermal shrinkage testing apparatus for liquid immersion, compliant with ASTM D2732, with 8 simultaneous sample holders

ULTS system (Unrestrained Linear Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus) determines the percentage thermal shrinkage of polymer films in the MD (Machine Direction) and TD (Transverse Direction) directions using the liquid immersion method in accordance with ASTM D2732.

The AISI 316 stainless steel bath is controlled by a 1/16 DIN PID controller with a PT100 thermometer (accuracy ±0.1 °C), a stirrer for thermal uniformity, an integrated electronic timer, a safety thermostat, and an emergency stop.
The internal stainless steel rack holds 8 stainless steel sample holders that are immersed in the heat transfer medium. The procedure involves immersing the sample (100×100 mm, cutting die included) for 10 seconds, cooling it to room temperature, and measuring in the MD and TD directions to calculate the percentage shrinkage.
The high capacity (8 samples per cycle) makes the instrument suitable also for high-volume production environments.

As optional accessories are available additional AISI 316 sample holders, manual or pneumatic die cutter, 100×100 mm die.
